Looks like every country would increase in size (or stay the same) except Russia and Canada.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Beethoven was an above-average composer: As Ax would say, if the author doesn't like Beethoven, he can always write his own symphonies. Oh sorry, he's a musicologist. Of course he can't. Maybe he enjoys the music of Florence Beatrice Price.

With as much as they hauled Lewis around the country and as ripe as that body had to be getting, I couldn't help but think of a movie scene (if you are offended by the N word, please do not click... Link to video

@Loki said in Waking up from a coma (political ad): @Mik said in Waking up from a coma (political ad): Boring. No one will watch it long enough to get what they are after. I turned it off at 2:24. I saw 6 minutes and said I’ll get to it later. What are the odds people go back when they defer the first time? Slim and none. And slim just left town.

Looks interesting. My (extremely limited) experience of recording in a studio is that it's just about the most tedious thing you can do with music. I hated it.

Thank you. I wonder why yesterday I couldn't get it to work. Anyhow, it looks like I replaced the link with the one from the Trader Joe's homepage. I should go shop at Trader Joe's. It is very popular on the west coast. It was just never a store I felt I could do 90% of my groceries in one visit.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Mid-year meeting tomorrow: It's a time-honoured annual tradition. 4 hours of corporate bullshit followed by 4 hours supposedly nursing 2 drinks tickets in the baking sun. The usually shunned non-drinkers in the group become unusually popular, and a fairly rabid black market ensues. Tomorrow it's via Microsoft Teams. I think the drinking might start a little earlier than usual. Like 4 hours earlier. On the bright side, it's Avocado Day. So, there's that.

@jon-nyc said in Simple puzzle: Klaus is going to go ballistic. Indeed! Why do we always have to abuse the poor equality sign in such a bizarre way? Why not write: We are looking for an operation f such that f(9) = 72, f(8) = 56, ..."?

If you have a food processor, you can make a version that doesn't even require cooking. Just the apples and a little cinnamon. And a pinch of salt, if you want.

@bachophile said in RIP, Herman Cain: Beneath me, Maybe. But it angers me that I dont think trump really cares one way or the other if the Tulsa rally caused harm. Empathy is not is forte. No, but he does have it. There are lot of small things that Trump does, things that never make the MSM, that do show flashes of empathy. Even a narcissist can have empathy.

Fine with me. In DC... you get 4 months of "freezing rain" where the temps hover around 35-40, sometimes could be snow, sometimes ice, sometimes rain. I'd rather have 4 months of cold snow and know what to expect. Plus, autumn lasts longer and the summers have a lower dew point. Yes, please.

The big increase is in Acoustic/Digital Hybrids. Yamaha’s Silent Pianos (acoustic pianos that can be switched to a digital piano through headphones) are hot commodities right now as are the Avant Grand (digital piano with the true grand piano action).
